Iain McGowan WORKSHOPS 2023

Iain McGowan FRPS has been a professional photographer since 1993
specialising in landscape and environmental photography. This, coupled
with his membership of several prestigious groups of photographers, has
ensured that his work has been widely published and exhibited. He is the
author of no less than seventeen monochromatic and colour illustrated
books featuring the Hebridean Islands and Highlands of Scotland, the
cities of Brighton and Hove, Chichester and Portsmouth, the landscapes of
Southern England and numerous aspects of the county of Sussex.

LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHIC WORKSHOPS
Iain is an accomplished photographer well-known for his
sensitive and atmospheric interpretation of the British Landscape. 2021 is
the fifteenth season that these workshops have been set up solely under his
name following almost nine years of a highly successful and innovative
workshop partnership with Hugh Milsom MFIAP.

Designed to assist photographers wanting to extend their knowledge of and
confidence in scenic, urban and industrial Landscape photography, the
workshops are aimed at helping participants understand the essentials - the
quality of light, mood and atmosphere and the study of detail, form, colour
and texture. Photographic locations are chosen with this in mind to enable
more personal and intimate images to be achieved. The workshops are
suitable for both colour and mono workers and film and digital users of
all standards.

The style of the workshops is deliberately relaxed and informal with
accommodation carefully selected, conveniently situated and well-appointed.
With regard to catering, when the self-catering option is chosen
for it's flexibility Bill McKnight, chef par excellence and also an enthusiastic
photographer often accompanies the workshops organising and cooking
most of the meals. These, together with pre-dinner drinks, convivial after
dinner conversation and time to relax and enjoy each other's photography
all help to create the ambience that has become such a recognised feature.
Participants are encouraged to bring a small selection of their work,
whenever possible, for individual or group discussion.

Please note that in addition to the workshops featured in our
programme, further workshops can be arranged for interested parties or
groups by special request at locations of their choice.
